What is the New Deal for Young People?
The NDYP is an initiative by the Mayor of London to build a better London, focused on providing access to mentoring and activities for young people.
The NDYP aims to provide mentoring opportunities to 100,000 disadvantaged young Londoners.
What is the Mentoring Quality Framework?
The Mentoring Quality Framework is a self-assessment tool to help organisations develop and refine their mentoring practices for young people.
The Framework can help organisations identify good practice and highlight areas which need further development. It provides the opportunity to discuss and reflect on mentoring practices and how organisations can improve.
The Mentoring Quality Framework represents an important step forward as part of the Mayor’s pledge to offer at-risk young people in London access to quality mentoring support. It will help to raise quality and confidence in delivering mentoring across the city, one of the principles on which LifeLine was founded.
We are very pleased to be part of this important programme and we look forward to working closely with London Youth and the Mayor’s Office as the programme develops.

Head of Young People's Services, LifeLine Projects
We are really pleased to be working with Lifeline as our partners to deliver the training sessions within the programme.
The programme also includes one-to-one support, a new mentoring community network, and a small grants programme to assist organisations to complete the Mentoring Quality Framework. Commissioned by the GLA, the Framework for quality mentoring is a useful self-assessment tool for youth organisations and also has wider applicability to other forms of trusted relationship in youth work.

Previously mentoring was not available to all young people on a wider scale across London. Most of it was unofficial. This programme is about providing good quality mentoring to as many young people as possible. This will lead to a future where some of the most vulnerable young Londoners have received lots of support and, in turn, their life chances and opportunities have improved.
